No. Dictation runs locally, and Command can use Apple On-Device or another local model. A cloud model is optional and uses your own key, stored in macOS Keychain and billed by its provider.
WhisperInk requires an Apple Silicon Mac running macOS 26 or newer. Local model availability can vary with your Mac and system configuration.
Your first 120 transcription minutes are free. USD 12.99 is a one-time unlock for Dictation, Command, and local processing; optional API usage is billed separately by the provider.
