Trial, licence, and updates
Understand the free trial, lifetime licence, device activations, customer portal, and signed app updates.
Free trial
The trial includes 30 minutes of successful local transcription. A recording that begins before the allowance is exhausted can finish even if it crosses the remaining time; a new recording cannot start after the allowance has been consumed.
Lifetime licence
- One-time price: USD 12.99.
- Activate on up to two Macs.
- Paste the Polar licence key into WhisperInk to activate.
- Deactivate a Mac to release one activation, or use the customer portal.
How licence validation behaves
A successfully activated licence is validated periodically. Temporary network or Polar failures preserve existing local access and can be retried later. A revoked, disabled, or expired licence returns to the purchase or activation screen.
Activation sends the licence key, organisation identifier, a user-visible installation label, and a random installation UUID. It does not send hardware identifiers, audio, text, documents, transcripts, or prompts.
App updates
WhisperInk checks for signed updates automatically each day and can download verified updates. Open Settings → Updates → Check Now whenever you want to check manually.
Update verification protects against modified installers. If an update fails, keep the app open, verify your connection, and try Check Now again later.
